WHAT IS AN AED?

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable device that delivers an electric shock to a person experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, helping to restore a normal heart rhythm.

Anyone can use an AED by simply switching it on, as it provides voice and visual prompts to guide the user through the process. 

AEDs are found in public spaces, are simple to use, and are a crucial tool for improving survival rates during cardiac emergencies.

WHERE TO FIND THE AED

There is an AED located on the verandah of the Tolmie Hall (Mechanics Institute).

It is in a metal box on the south wall of the verandah. Break glass with steel peg to access the key.
