About the Tolmie Hall
Set amidst the eucalypt parklands of the Tolmie Recreation Reserve, the Hall is a cornerstone of our thriving community.
It’s a popular spot for community meetings, luncheons, and other gatherings, and provides a welcoming space for our weekly Unfinished Objects Group and monthly Casserole Nights, as well as Pilates and Circuit Classes and Line Dancing.
This well-equipped hall offers seating for up to 100 people for sit-down functions, fantastic kitchen facilities (including two electric ovens, a large gas cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, and fridges), a sunny verandah, disabled access, and heating/cooling. Its prime location between the quaint Uniting and Catholic Churches makes it an ideal wedding venue, perfect for receptions as well as for birthdays, anniversaries, and dances.
A Brief History
First built in 1920, the Tolmie Hall officially opened with a dance on July 2nd. Admission was five shillings for gentlemen, with ladies entering free. The original hall featured a kitchen with an open fireplace and a ladies’ cloakroom.
A supper room was added in 1951, followed by a new toilet block in 1982. Further improvements occurred in 1985, culminating in a major renovation in August 2008 that added the verandah and deck, clad the toilet block, and introduced larger windows in the supper room.
